• About the Society:

  The Hellenic SSIEM was formed in 2009 with the aim of expanding the knowledge of Metabolic Disorders in the Medical and dietitians’ scientific community.

  The Society consists of 153 members of different specialities: Doctors of different specialities (mainly Paediatricians, Neurologists, Medical Doctors, clinical Scientists, Dietitians) with an interest in the field of inherited disorders of Metabolism.

  We are trying to collaborate with the Greek Association of patients with Inherited Disorders of Metabolism “Krikos Zois” to help patients with metabolic disorders being reimbursed for their medical and dietetic Treatment and the Government to understand their special needs.

  Each year we try to announce two scholarships to help Young Scientists who have a special interest to be trained in Metabolic Disorders and are willing to attend an International course (ORPHAN) or an SSIEM academy course on Inherited Disorders of Metabolism.

  Furthermore, we have started to collaborate with the Italian Society of metabolic Disorders organising webinars on special groups of Metabolic Disorders as we are trying to expand the knowledge of our members gaining more from their experience and research.

  Aims of the Society:

  • The promotion of Research and studies regarding the identification, diagnosis and management of
    Inborn Errors of Metabolism.
  • Communication and collaboration of scientists involved in Inborn Errors of
    Metabolism in Greece and abroad.
  • The represention of its members in corresponding European and International
    Organizations.
  • The organization of National and International meetings in Greece.
  • The promotion of the collaboration of its members with societies, scientific groups
    and institutions involved in the field of Inborn Errors of Metabolism.
