The Society invites applications for a Travel & Training Bursary Award from SSIEM Members who must have been members of the Society for at least 3 months before applying for this award.

  • Applications for a Travel Scholarship Award for the SSIEM Symposium or ICIEM conference made via this page will be discarded by the SSIEM Administration.

 

ABOUT SSIEM TRAVEL & TRAINING BURSARY AWARDS

The third round of applications for 2025 is now closed.

The first round for 2026 applications will open on 1 November 2025.

There will be three rounds for SSIEM Members to apply for a Travel & Training Bursary Award:

1st      Applications open 1 November, closing 31 January. Decisions to be made and applicants informed by 28 February

2nd     Applications open 1 March, closing 31 May. Decisions to be made and applicants informed by 30 June

3rd      Applications open 1 July, closing 30 September. Decisions to be made and applicants informed by 31 October

This award may be used to enable the candidate to visit a centre of excellence for specific training or to attend conferences or meetings other than the SSIEM Symposium. Conferences or meetings should be related to the metabolic field and not industry-organized. For specific training the candidate must make the arrangements with the selected centre and provide confirmation that the centre is able to accept them. The training should be in the field of inborn errors of metabolism. Any reasonable funding request will be considered for training.

For relevant conferences and meetings, funding of up to approximately €1500 (one thousand five hundred Euro) for European candidates, and up to approximately €3000 (three thousand Euro) for candidates outside Europe, will be considered.

For specific training this will be adapted to the characteristics of the training regarding matching the candidate's profile, duration, subsequent implementation and the allocated SSIEM budget.

Any reasonable funding request will be considered for training.

Your application must be supported by a short statement (not more than 500 characters) of why you should be considered for funding. A short CV, supporting letter from your centre and, if applicable, a letter of support from your specific training centre.

We will also ask for the name and e-mail address of your Manager, Head of Department or Supervisor.

If attending a Training Centre please supply the e-mail address of your host Supervisor.
