  • About the Society:

The Lithuanian Society of Human Genetics (LSHG) is a non-profit public organization that unites Lithuanian specialists in human and medical genetics — scientists, educators, clinical geneticists, medical geneticists, and all those who are actively interested in these branches of biomedical science.

The activities of the LSHG are regulated by its statutes. The society unites 43 members.

On March 20, 1974, the first organization of the Genetics Society was founded, bringing together Lithuanian physicians and biologists interested in issues of human and medical genetics. There was still no independent medical genetics society in Lithuania, so physicians participated in the society’s activities together with biologists.

The independent Lithuanian Society of Human Genetics was founded on May 9, 1991. Its members became Lithuanian specialists in human and medical genetics. In 1996, the Lithuanian Society of Human Genetics joined the International Association of Human Biology, and in 1997, it was admitted to the International Federation of Human Genetics Societies.
